In this course, we will explore the interaction between images, text, fonts, color, and shapes in the production of modern graphic design. We will read about the development of typefaces, and learn how to capture effective photographs. We will also assemble digital posters and pamphlets, design websites and corporate logos, and animate video elements while learning how to apply the principles of good graphic design. By the end of this Spring Phase course, the student will assemble and present an online portfolio of their best work, to be viewed by the school. We plan on going on field trips (virtual and real-life, if safety permits it) to see examples of good graphic design. There will be a daily reading from an assigned book, and we will write regularly in our group blog online.
